Lost actuals entered by Team members from Web Access

I am using Web Access to track the progress of my project. The tracking
option used is: "Always track by entering the hours of work done per time
period" - which provides the timesheet view. However, for some reason, when
I accept the updates, they aren't actually showing up in my project for each
of them. Is this because my tasks are fixed work and there are entering over
and above the inital planned work time? Should I be using another 'Task
Type' so that the plan is flexible enough to allow for these updates?
