Lost shortcuts in Outlook 2003

Koen

Hi,

Some days ago I posted a question about my shortcuts to
public folders who disappear.

Someone suggested me to do a system restore. But this
didn't solved my problem :-( There are no shortcuts
anymore even after the system restore from the day before.

If I create some shortcuts to public folders on exchange,
they all will be lost after I reboot my laptop.

I use WinXP Pro.

Anyone a suggestion, cause this is really annoying.

Thanks in advance.

use restore in all program-accesories, systemtools
and restore
for now, there could be another reason , after restore do
a file system check on the disk

Hi,

I have a problem with Outlook 2003. In the shortcut
bar
I created several groups and shortcuts. The
shortcuts
all point to Public Folders. Now for some reason
sometimes all my groups and shortcuts are lost after
a
reboot.

This is very frustrating because I have many
shortcuts!

Anyone an idea?

I to am having a problem with shortcuts in Outlook 2003. I create
shortcuts to shared calendars on the shortcut navigator bar. They
will work fine until I exit Outlook. When I reenter Outlook and
select (click) a shortcut it will disappear (sometimes they will work
but most often they just disappear). I have found through Google
three other postings with the same or similar problem.

I use outlook 2003 shortcuts disappear for the search.

I have found no solution as of this date.

I think I've understood what's going on, even if it is quite weird. I
was trying to configure a Shortcut Group named "BP's" and my shortcuts
disappeared after restarting Outlook as it is happening to you.
Then I changed the name to "BP" only, and now it's 2 days that my
shortcuts don't disappear anymore...

Maybe it was because of the ', which creates problems in the xml file
where shortcuts are stored... do you have some ' or other strange
character in your shortcuts names?

I have found similar results and believe you may be onto something. I
was using "Phone #'s" in my shortcut menu and as soon as I would add
that I would beging to see misc problems such as shortcuts
disappearing. I stopped using the # and ' and haven't had any
problems yet??? Hopefully this is a workaround until microsoft
figures out a patch.

It looks like you've found the problem. My shortcuts were to shared
calendars and the shortcuts were named as such. Eric's Calendar
Fred's Calendar
I changed them to Eric Calendar Fred Calendar and haven't had any
more problems with them disappearing. We'll see what happens over the
next few days but I think the problem has been found.
