Mac and PC and graphics

What is the best file type for images in PPT that is going
to be used on both the Mac and the PC with good resolution?

I'm using Office 97 for PC and Office 98 for Macintosh.

PNG is my favorite bitmap format...bar none.

For what's a good resolution for on-screen / projected presentations (which
is a different issue) see
