Hi

PowerPoint has a preference concerning how sound files will be handled. In
PowerPoint's preferences look on the General tab. There's a setting that
determines the sound file size that PowerPoint will link to rather than
incorporate into a presentation. Set that number larger than the sound
file's size and it should work better.

But note that this is only true of sounds stored as WAV files. It doesn't
make that at all clear in the dialog box, but all sounds other than WAV
files will be linked regardless of that setting.

Jim ,

thanks for your info on sound. That was however just part of the
prolem which actually was also fixed when I saved the presentation as
a package. The main problem is that the images fly through at rapid
fire, completely disregarding the timings I set.

Forget the Bloody sound..I keep asking about the problem with the PC
PPT completely disregarding the timings i created on my MAC, and
showing the images at an extremely rapid pace. THank you again about
the sound....but the MAIN problem is that the timings are not being
recognized on the PC.

WHY?????????????????????????????????

Which version are you creating under on Mac and are the timings you're
talking about slide transitions or are they animation timings?

And which version are you playing back under on PC?

i am using version X that has now been updated to x.1.5. The show
would be played back on a variety of labtops but i believe the
version on the PC i tested it on has one of the latest versions.
Creating as animation transitions.

i did call microsoft and spoke with what they call a customer
service"technician" the non existance of customer service in the
world today drives me INSANE!!!!!! They guy didn't even have his
technical terms correct. I am obviously learning myself but this guy
is working for microsoft. After a time being left on hold he comes
back and says that he only services MAC users . I said well who do i
speak to about crossplatform problems. He said whoever deals with
PCs. "WHO do you work for" I ask...MICROSOFT you idiot they created
office and you can't transfer me to someone who can help me. No I did
not yell at mr."technician" but i felt like it. He put me on hold
again and finally came back and told me that he talked with the PC
guys and they said that is "Just the way it is" HELLO!!!!!! A
couple of hundred dollars later and all the propaganda about smooth
transitioning between MAC and PC Office and all you can tell me is
thats just the way it is. FREAKS!!!!!!!!!what is the bloody world
coming to. i am presently attempting to build my presentation in
FLash 4. SOOOOOOO guess my learning curve continues, BUT if you have
any solution to my original problem i would welcome it. i am sure
there are answers out there just not from the company that made them.
MORONS!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the venting session and as I said any help to my orininal
question would be great. - N

Animations or slide transitions or something else? Can you elaborate?
And can you find out more about which version's causing the problem on the
PC?
The way timings/transistions work changed between errmm ... ummm ... 2000
and 2002 as I recall, so it's kind of important to know this.
