machine account

Hi all,

In the project server book I have, it says you can create
a * Machine Account * using the * Add User * in the Admin
section of PWA. What would you do with a machine account?

Thanks,
NC

Hi NC,

I'm not sure what book you are referring to, but chances are its just not
describing the functionality properly. Basically, you can have two types of
PWA accounts:

1) PWA Login: A user account managed by MS Project Server, with a password
stored in the database.

2) Windows Login: A user account created on the server or the domain server.
In this scenario, Project Server only records the fact that a Windows Login
has access rights and lets Windows manage the account.

#2 is what I would consider to be a 'machine' account. You (or a Windows
Administrator) must create the account on the domain server (machine) and
then add that new user to PWA. Project Server does not have the capability
to create accounts itself.
