Mail merge for phone list

T

Terry

Operating system, XP Home Edition, Office (Word) 2000.

My mail merge for labels works just like its supposed to. Now I'm trying to take data, such as; name, address, and phone number into a catalog. When I merge, the first column lines up fine, but the data in the other columns do not line up on the first letter of their heading.

Plus, I want the first page to have text and a picture, the page 2 begins the merge of data into the phone list, aka catalog?

I need placeholders? or how do I designate that each column should contain x number of space/placeholders so that all the data lines up just like it is in Excel.

Thanks

Terry

You need to either set tab stops where you want the various fields or merge
into a table. Elements that are not merged (such as the cover) will have to
be added after you complete the merge.

You have to both set tab stops and insert tab characters between your merge
fields (and make sure that there is room for the merged information in the
columns thus created. Or you can use a table instead.

Setting tabs isn't working. Rows do not follow the columns and I don't
know where else to look. I researched all my sources and I don't find any
mention of my problem being discussed so it must be something I'm doing.
Would be glad to give you a blow by blow description, via Snagit if there is
a way to do that.
