Mail Merge Issue

Girish Altekar

Win2000, Office 200
Mail Merge has always worked fine in Word. Trying to create a Pub Mail Merg
Doc. When I click on "Open Data Source", it says feature not installed. Whe
I attempt to install it using my Office 2K CDs, it can not find "Microsof
Office 2000 SR-1 Disk2". Well, of course, that's because I don't hav
that disk. Any thoughts on what is going on or how to get around it

Much appreciated.

Hi Girish,

My copy of Office 2K Pro installs Publisher (2000) from Disk 2. How did you
install publisher in the first place, if not from Disk 2?
I suppose the solution to the problem is to get a copy of disk 2 if you
really don't have it.

Best,
Gordon.

Yes, that is true Don. But if the computer prompts you for CD2 of the Office
SR-1 application, that means that the Publisher install was originally from
the Office CD set, 2nd CD, not as a stand alone.

So that means that this company/person installed Publisher from the 2nd CD,
and they need this CD to complete the installation. Or, they might be able
to find a way to browse a stand alone copy to complete the install, but I am
not that familiar with the Windows Installer and what avenue they would have
to take. Possibly some registry setting?

It is likely that I did an install or an update using SR-1 disks at som
point, probably a few years ago. Since then I have been using th
Office 2000 disks and doing on-line office updates. When I inser
the second Office 2000 CD, the installer does not recognize the
data2.msi installer package

I have looked but can not find the SR-1 disks any more. Thank
for your comments

Try uninstalling our Publisher product, then reinstalling Publisher, then go
to the website and update your service packs for Publisher.
