Sounds wonderful, David... I envy your summer, but then ours will be back.
Have fun prospecting. Do you take your better half? Remember us when you become rich
and famous...

I am going on holidays for three weeks prior to Christmas - not quite sure where yet.
Will probably disappear deep into the mountains next to some lovely river where I can
do some fishing, off-road motorcycling and writing.
I am certainly looking to travel more in the future and work substantially less.
With gold at $US452.00 $AU756.00 it may be time to buy a small rock crusher.
I have some pretty damn rich small gold rock deposits and have wanted to mine them
for years, and now will have the time.
Up till now have only done alluvial mining, but the lure of the rich gold rock has
bitten me.
Gold mining is a rather lucrative hobby, not a work thing. Takes you to all these
awesome places deep into the mountains.
I love the researching and prospecting side and the all encompassing hobby it is.
Involves a lot of computer and mapping work.
This is my prospecting machine with all the gear on the back and my GPS and iPaq with
mapping software on the handlebars.
Within the immediate area (100km radius/60 miles) where I live, there were over 2,500
registered gold mines and around another 10% never registered from the 1850's onward.
I am also very interested in the mining history and have a *massive* collection of
Victorian mining history.
I do it really tough when out in the bush. I have a great 4WD campervan all solar
powered with refrigeration, satellite TV, mobile Internet, hot water system, and
every other comfort you could want - very tough you know!!!
