When users are using Word Mail merge it sometimes locks the shared database
so that other users can not open it. They recieve a 3734 error that the
database has been placed in a state by user.......and can not be opened.
This did not happen when they used A97 only since converting to A2003. They
use Word 2003 also. This happens quite often as they use this database
daily. The merge involves only one table named employees. I tried splitting
it and putting the frontend on their PC and leaving the backend on the
server. They complain about the slowness of this and also still need attach
to the backend for the merge. Any thoughts? I can not find any locks on the
forms or any controls on subforms referencing controls on the forms, I had
seen some articles that this could be a problem. It seems related to the
merge.
