I am merging an excel file into a publisher booklet but the figures appear in
the booklet to about 10 decimal points ie 56.5700000000000000000. How can I
stop this please?

If I remember correctly the decimal places is determined in the Regional
settings in the Control Panel.
Format your Excel field as text.

I don't know why you are getting 10 decimal places. I opened Excel's help, typed
decimal places, the first entry has a solution.
