Mailmerge from Access to Word

When I carry out a mergein Word with data from Access, although the date is
correct in Access as soon as I merge it into Word the day and month are
transposed giving an American date. How can I stop this?

Which version of Word do you have (including any service packs - check in
Help/About Microsoft Word)? What locale do you have set in the Windows
Regional settings?
