Managing delays in MS Project 2007

I'm working on a complex Federal design/build construction project tha
requires owner review of multiple design packages prior to start o
construction. The entire construction schedule is dependent on thei
review and authorization to proceed. The original schedule included tim
for that review, but they are quickly falling behind and can't/won'
provide a projected remaining duration or completion dates. Once th
reviews have actually been completed, I can update the actual finis
dates, but until that point I need a clean way to reflect the delays t
keep the rest of the schedule from just slipping into the past. The wa
I've come up with is to use a leveling delay on the successor task
which then zeros out when I enter actual dates. Any ideas. thank

You didn't like Rod and Trevor's answers from your earlier post?
They suggested you keep adding your own personal estimated remaining
duration to the "Customer Review" tasks. This should, if you schedule is
properly linked, push all remaining work to the right.

The other thing you can do is change the status date, select
Tools/Tracking/Update Project... In the dialog box, select "Reschedule
Uncompleted work to start after..." then select the day you think your
customer will finally complete their review. Then, you can restart your
project.

If they don't complete by that date, then reschedule again with a later
date. I do hope your contract says they will pay your standing army while
they take their time to review. Also, I assure you there is a big replan in
the making... any time a customer runs late on that type of important task,
it can only spell "Change Order"

Hi,
Don't use the leveling delay for that ! (its use is for leveling resource
workload)
Instead of that, before entering any progress:
Display the Tracking Gantt (from the View menu) then :
Tools / Tracking / Set the Baseline
The Baseline appears as gray bars, while expected durations are red (for
critical tasks) or blue (non critical tasks).
After you enter some progress, you can see the delay.
