Several of my users have Tools|Options|Calculation set to Manual because they
create large spreadsheet with many linked cells and sheets. Automatic
recalculation is not efficient for them.
However, and I have seen the problem in real time, when a cell in a
summation range is changed and the F9 key pressed, the summation cell does
not change. Shift F9 does no good. Even Ctrl-Alt-Shift F9 does not work.
However, if the cursor is in the summation cell and the summation icon on
the task bar is pressed, the new summation is shown. Alternately, changing
from Excel to another open application and switching back to Excel will also
change the summation cell. A final workaround is to close and reopen Excel.
Has anyone run across this before or perhaps have and idea of where I can
look for a solution?
