Many Outlooks open in the Task Manager

Does anyone know how this can happen? Outlook will start slowing down and
sometimes will not open. I do a Ctr-Alt-Del and will find 3 or 4 Outlook.exe
running in the Processes section of Task Manager. When I close down all of
them and them reopen Outlook everthing starts running fine.

Any idea on what needs to be fixed?

Could you point me in a direction. I went over to the support section and searched with no luck.
