OK- when I set up the master page items I can see them all on the master page (obviously), when I go to add new slide it does NOT add in a slide with the text boxes as shown on the master page. it does however add in a slide with all the other items ( background and a master logo)- any suggestions ?

Are you adding your own text boxes or filling in text in the boxes
(placeholders) that are already there on the master? If you are adding your
own text boxes, it should work just fine (and does for me). If you are
trying to fill in text in the existing placeholders, you can't do that
(although it will appear to change the text on the master).

Hi David

Thanks for the reply- we did try this, we want to add text on the master page and then be able to edit it on the individual slides. Thats why we use the auto format text boxes. We got these boxes to appear on the master page by going to format- mater layout- and then check type and text. If you have a solution to what we trying to do ie set up a master template with text boxes that are individually editable on each slide we would be very grateful

many thanks

John

Hi John,
I read your post on mackb.om about your PowerPoint master slide issue. One of
my clients is having the same issue when they open the presentation that I
created on a PC on their Mac. Would you be kind enough to share with me how
you resolved your issue? I would really appreciate it.

Best regards,
Marichelle

Hi Marichelle,

In the end we created a new file and set up a master page and then a slide title. Then every-time we added a new slide to the document the template for the title slide appeared - which is what we wanted. I think the reason it didn't work before was because we set everything up just on the master and not on the title slide.

Hope that helps?

John

John,
I will give it a try, and see if that fixes it. Thank you for sharing!

Best Regards,
Marichelle
