Hi Jacob, good news. It isn't nearly as messed up as you may have thought.
Click on Tools => Options => View => and change the default view to
'Normal - Thumbnails, notes and slide' or 'The view saved in the file"
If you already have the latter one selected, then change the view to normal
(via View => Normal) and resave the file.
These directions will hold true for PowerPoint 2002 and 2003, but I believe
200 and prior had similar settings. In either case, post back if these do
not correct the opening problem. Please include your version of PowerPoint
whenever posting.
