max *.pst file size

Is there a maximum allowed file size for *.pst files in
Outlook 2000 ? I'm experiencing problems with a pst file
on approx. 450 MB.

Thanks!

Hi,

Offically I belive the largest a pst file can get before
it starts to fall over is 1.5Gb but from my experience
anything over about 650-700Mb can be problematic.

Try using the Inbox Repair Tool to fix your pst. Usually
found at "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033
\SCANPST.EXE" You'll need to dissconnect your pst from
outlook and shut outlook down then run the repair tool on
your pst file.

Hope this helps

Thanks for quick replies!
Well, it reports no errors when running scanpst, however a
error message is popping up after a couple of minutes
stating "Outlook.exe has generated errors and will be
closed". I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the
pst file size. I solved the problem, for now, creating a
new file and then importing the old one back into the new.

if you use windows 2000 or windows xp, check the event log to see what file
is working with outlook.exe to cause the crash.

find and rename outcmd.dat and *.srs files then try opening outlook again.
