merge 2 PDF files into 1 PDF file

I created a booklet using 2- 11 x 17's plus a insert for the booklet
using 1- 8.5 x 11. I saved the booklet part as one PDF and the insert
as another. Is there a way to merge these 2 PDF's for ease in e-
mailing?

I use Acrobat to combine files. Or to split them or extract pages, etc.
But -- is there a problem with just emailing 2 attached pdfs?

With the two different page sizes, will it cause a problem at the other
end -- are they going to be printing it? If it's a commercial printer, they
should be able to cope with a booklet file + an insert-page file.

I like to keep things pretty simple, & separate files would seem
simpler to me.

I regularly send a newsletter pdf file to my printer company; I lay it out
as regular ole 8-1/2x11 paper & they print it up on 11x17 double-sided with
no problem. (I get print & fold but not collated service; my group does the
collating to save $.) They also have no problem if I send one of the pages
separately & include the information in the cover-email notes.

If your PDF program of choice doesn't support combining or appending,
and you don't want to switch to PrimoPDF (which does), then you can try
Pdftk, which is free and available at http://www.accesspdf.com/pdftk/ -
you do need to be able to use a command-line, though.
