Merging graphics in a footer

P

Paul Hammond

I have included pictures in my mail merge using the method outlined on
Graham's website. I even have code that does it all for me. My problem
now is trying to do all this in a footer. Nothing I have tried manually or
with code seems to update all the footers in my merged document. The result
is I have the correct logo in the main body and a static logo in the footer.

Hope I have explained myself properly. Any suggestions?

Try applying a custom style (paragraph or character) to the logo in the
document and picking it up with a StyleRef field in the footer.

Unfortunately, you've lost me. Word is kind of a sideline for me. Can you
explain how put this into effect? I created a style by selecting the
logo(which is part of an Include Picture field) and applied it to the
identical field in the footer. So far I can only update on footer at a time.

just tried that and got something that looks like
{STYLEREF Pub \*MERGEFORMAT} Pub is the STYLEREF I created.
This is the result when I update the field.

"Error! No text of specified style in document."

which is true, there is only an IncludePicture field
as shown below where I created the character style.

{INCLUDEPICTURE "M:\\Circulation\\CIS\\Bitmaps\\{MERGEFIELD "FileName}" "
\* MERGEFORMAT \d}

Is your picture In Line With Text? And you applied the Pub style to the
picture (character style) or the paragraph it's in (paragraph style)?

I checked on the Format Picture Layout Tab
Yes, it is In Line With Text.

Okay, I tried this, and evidently it is a limitation of the StyleRef file
that it can't pick up pictures. I tried it with an embedded graphic (so not
even a field), using both character and paragraph styles, and neither one
worked. Sorry.

The graphic links won't update in the header or footer until one of the
following occurs:

o Print Preview is selected, which automatically updates the graphic links
in the headers/footers even if the Update Links field is unchecked under
Tools > Options > Print.

o The file is printed, which forces the same behavior as above.

o Go to Edit > Links, select all links in the list, and click Update Now.

Don't know if this helps.
