Message box - No duplicates

Can I use a message box like a warning? I have a field that can possibly have
duplicates, but it normally doesn't. I want the user to get a message box if
they've entered a duplicate value for this field, but I want them to be able
to decide if they will continue or back out and open the existing record.
Something like "The Project Name you've entered already exists. Proceed?"
Then the user would have the option of Yes or No. --Or-- "The Project Name
you've entered already exists, what would you like to do?" Option 1:
Continue to open this Project with the same name. Option 2: Cancel and
return to Main Menu to select existing project.

Thanks,
Mary

I can set up the message box, but not sure how to get it to only run if the
value is a duplicate....

Thanks again, Mary

I'm not able to open it, I'm using Access97, and it looks like this is a an
Access 2000 database. Would you be able to copy and paste the instructions?
