How do you turn off the Microsoft Online featured links.
I have gone into the Options setting is Word 2003 and
under View I have unchecked "Startup Task Pane" click OK
and then shut down Word. When I start Word up again the
task pane Office Online is still there? Suggestions?

1> To turn off the task pane, do what you did, but be sure that Word is
really restarted. (Often, you'll find a hidden copy of Word hanging around
to service Outlook.
2> To turn off the featured links only, click Tools | Options | General |
Service Options | Online Content and uncheck the appropriate boxes.

Hi Pat,

In Word 2003 use the Help=>Customer Feedback Options=>Online Options settings. The Task Pane doesn't go away but the behaviors can
be altered.

Hi Eric,

Did what you suggested but the "Task Pane" on the right
side of the screen is still up and running. Is there
another switch to throw to turn that function off also?
This appears to be a problem greater than it should be.
By the way under View in Word I unchecked the Task Pane
function but when re-opening Word it pops back up where
Office Online use to be. It appears that these two
fucntions are integrated. Thanks for your help.

I'm afraid you'll need to be more specific about which task panes you're
having problems with. When you uncheck the Tools | Options | View | Startup
Task pane checkbox, and restart Word, the task pane shouldn't be visible
until you do something (e.g. File | New) which uses it.

do you only want to turn off 'Task pane' in Word 2003? if so, launch Word, from top menu click View, click task pane. the checked mark will disappear along with the task pane itself.
