Microsoft Outlook found more than one "{addyYouTypedIn}" Message

We just recently upgraded to Exchange 2k3. All users are using Outlook 2000.

All users have alias as their 3 letter initials (John T. Handcock = jth).

We have a situation where there is 1 user that has the alias as jth and
another user that has an email address of (e-mail address removed)

User have become used to typing in the 3 letter alias for sending internal
email, so they type in jth to send email to user 1.

Outlook, however, pops up a message of "Microsoft Outlook found more than
one "jth". Would you like to:
(radiobutton) Create a new address for "jth"?
(radiobutton) Change to
John T. Handcock
Judith T Hatcher

The alias is different for both users (jth and jet), but it seems to be
resolving the alias vs the email address (email addys are jhandcock@ and
jthatcher@)

Even if I pick the same one each time, I still get this message.

This also does not work well with SQL Server 2000 sending mail thru Outlook
because of the same message.

How do I force Outlook to only check in alias? (Or even force it to look
only at email address? either one is fine with me.)

Thanks
