Microsoft Project 2002 Wizard

I am working in the project setup wizard to define the projects general
working hours. After I set up the base calendar resources, I want to add a
night shift calendar to include a night shift for the first two weeks of the
project. When I try to define a new calendar using the "define new base
calendar" link in the wizard, it says the calendar I have selected already
exists, even though I haven't created one for the night shift. Please Help.

Hi Dean,

There is already a calendar called "Night Shift" in the global template
(Global.MPT) file which is the basis for all project files. In step two of
five in the "Additional Calendars" Define general working time, if you enter
in the name "Night Shift" for your new calendar and select "Night Shift" as
the calendar template you will see the message you describe. You can return
to step 1 in the wizard and instead of choosing the "Define a new base
calendar" select the "Edit an existing calendar". Once you save an go to
Step 2, select the Night Shift calendar from the drop-down and edit away.

You may also edit any calendar (or make a new calendar) from the
Tools>Change Working Time option in the menu.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks Julie,

I think I've figured it out, maybe a little differently than you described.
I wanted to add the second calendar for the Night Shift in addition to the
regular calendar for temporary use. What I did was choose "Define a new base
calendar" and then give the calendar a new name for a new calendar template
for my night shift hours. I'm not sure if it's the "correct" way to do it,
but it works.

Hi Dean,

I'm glad you found what you were looking for. It sounds like you did it
perfectly - because it works! ;-).
Thanks for the feedback.
