Microsoft Word 2002 problems

Hello all, I just updated my olf word to Microsft Word 2002, and I'm
having a problem.
When I try to shut down the program after working on a certian file,
the file closes, but then the program sends up a message that it has
shut down and will generate a recovery file, I.E., a crash. However,
the recovery file is empty, and the original file is untouched, having
saved correctly.
Now, this file was being used by my previous version of word. I had
some tracked changes in it and comments, and when I saved it as an RTF
file, I had the same problem until I deleted all the comments. Is
this a case of version incompatiability?
Thanks!

Yep-- it seems pretty focused on files from Word 2000.
funny thing is, the file isn't harmed-- its like the program thinks
that a file has gone bad, but it really hasn't. Regardless, I'm going
to install the newest service pack and hope that fixes it. Anyone
else had an experience like this?

It could be document corruption, template corruption or an inappropriate
add-in for the new Word version. If you are running Norton AV, disable its
office plug-in.
