Migrate Outlook Express to Outlook?

I have a simple (I think) question: I currently have Outlook Express
installed, with all my mail folders, addresses, etc.

I want to install Outlook (2003) now. Will it automatically take over
everything from Outlook Express as I think/hope it will? Or am I supposed to
"export" or "save" something before doing this migration?

Thanks,

John

In OE do File-Export to export your mail folders to Outlook. In Outlook do
File-Import-Internet mil and addresses, UNCHECK mail (because you've already
done it) to import your addressbook.

the reason for doing it this way is, if you import mail from within Outlook,
all the Modified Dates are replaced with the date of import, and as
functions like autoarchiving work on the Modified date, it screws them up!

They are two completely different programs.
You will have to set up Outllook, the accounts, and test.
Then in OE Export msgs to OL
In OL Import addresses
Stop using / opening OE, or set it not to check for mail, or remove the
accounts, otherwise it will receive mail if you open it

Many thanks to both of you for the advice. Sure enough, I had underestimated
the task.
