Missing icons for active windows on the windows taskbar ?

I have a problem. when my windows applications are minimized(files, folders,
internet explorer etc), the icons do not show up on the windows task bar.
what should i do? Any suggestions?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, euc asked:
