Missing ID numbers

I have a large master schedules with several subschedules all link together
through the master schedule. When I open the master schedule up I get a
message that there is an conflict error with ID number 279 under one of the
subschedules. When I go to that subschedule there is an ID number 278 and
280, but no 279. Any ideas what I should do next to resolve this issue?

Make sure the filter All Tasks is displayed, that all summary tasks are
expanded and that you have not sorted your tasks (sort by ID if in doubt).

joycepmp,
In addition to Rod's suggestions you also need to make sure that the
options for showing external links are checked (Tools/Options/View tab).
The default is that they are, but they might have been turned off.

I checked both of the suggestions and found that the filter was indeed set to
All Tasks and that the external links were also all checked. Any other
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

jjoycepmp,
I'm not sure why Project does this but sometimes the external (ghost)
tasks do not show up even when the option is checked for external
predecessors and successors to be shown. Try collapsing the expanding
the subprojects in the master and see if the ghost tasks don't magically
appear.
