Missing "slide show" option in Picture Manager

At some point recently, the "view as a slide show" option in my list of
picture tasks-- in fact, my entire "picture tasks" option list has
disappeared. I can only view pix in a folder by clicking on each one
individually. Some folders are quite large and this can take a long time to
view each photo. Any suggestions on how to get my "picture tasks" list
back???

Did you try a detect and repair in the Help menu? Deleting the OIS thumbnails
might help too.

It is in a folder similar to this:

C:\Documents and Settings\<<user>>\Application Data\Local\Microsoft\OIS
or
C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OIS (Vista)

Thanks for the reply, Mary. I entered "detect and repair" in the help search
box and it returned "no results". I looked in my C drive, docs & settings,
users, and "application data" never came up. Hate to sound like a dimbulb,
but how do I delete the OIS thumbs?

In the Picture Manager help Menu is where you find Detect and Repair.

Application Data is a hidden folder.
In the Control Panel, Folder Options, View Tab, check *Show hidden files and
folders*

Thanks, I found it in the pic mgr help. When I click on detect and repair,
it starts to configure office basic edition. In doing so, will I lose any
files (photos, etc?)

You shouldn't lose your photos. The repair is to the program not your files.

Thanks, we're getting there. Do I select "restore shortcuts while
repairing", or "discard custom settings and restore defaults"?

I'm sorry if this post is too late to be helpful.
It is your choice on the options. Personally I would keep any custom setting.

Well, Detect & Repair went well, but still no slideshow. Will try deleting
the OIS thumbs. Sorry to keep beating this to death, but I'd sure like that
option back!!
