mouse problem after running macro

Hi all!
Win 2000 (all updates), Office 2000/2003 (all service releases), Macro
created in Word 97 VBA, local installation of global template

I have a curious problem of a macro that is running without this problem on
very many computers: first it was one computer, now already two with this
problem.

The macro starts several dialogs and creates a new document from a template
(protected in parts). After the macro has run, it is no longer possible to
click with the mouse anywhere in the document area or use the scroll bar
with the mouse. This seems not to be a problem with document protection
because removing/putting back the protection appears to work as usual.

The user can type and move the cursor with the keyboard. Actually any
keyboard action will still perform normally. The document can be scrolled by
the mouse wheel. The user can use the mouse to click in the toolbars and
perform any action (even restart the macro and modify with help of mouse).
Back in document no mouse click or action is possible.

Before the macro has ever been started per Word session, mouse action in
document is normal.

This is very puzzling. Reinstall, different version of Office, clean
install, clone from working computer has been tried by system administrator.
Different mouses have been tried. The problem occurs on PS2 and USB mouses.

Please, does anybody have any ideas?
Birgit
