Move Instalation files

Bob S

I just installed MSOffice 2003. At the end of the instalation it asked
me if I wanted it to delete the instalation files, saying that it would
save me over 200Mb of space but that leaving them on would make updates
(and something else) easier. Since I normally do NOT carry the MSOffice
CD along with me with my laptop, I elected to leave them on. Here are
my questions.

1. Are all of these files needed for the updates etc. or is it just the
cabs?
2. Do I need to do anything special before I move this directory out of
my root to under Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11 (that is so
that MSOffice will know in the future where these cabs are located)?

Thanks.

Hi Bob,

The MS Office 2003 Local Installation Source files (LSI)
are stored in the \MSOCache folder and Office determines
the location except during setup you can direct it.

You can also copy the CD to your hard drive and install
from that image as an alternate approach to not having
the CDs or a network installation point available.
