I'm doing a school presentation. How do I insert movie clips from youtube,
myspace, xanga etc into the powerpoint presentation? Is it possible?

It is possible... though I cannot talk here about copywrites, etc., as you
are doing academics and all I know for that is business application... so:

First thing you have to do is get the clip you want to show. For the most
part this will be a simple Right Click the video or link and "Save As"

Myspace videos might be difficult as I am not sure how they are
shown/stored... basically if you can't put the video on your home computer,
or burn it to a CD you might have issues.

Video codecs and format are a whole other issue, and there is plenty of
information about that on google if you start to search around for things
like "powerpoint video" or "powerpoint mpeg".

BUT to answer your question as simple as possible:

Insert > Movie and Sounds > Movie From File
Pick your video file, and hit OK.

Now the hard part: getting the clip you want to show!

I've already asked the person who posted it up in youtube permission to use
the clip or where he got the clip from. I'm still waiting for his reply. Is
there away to convert this:

and place that into a powerpoint presentation so it shows up? Thank you!

I didnt view the link but according to the text in the link you are trying to
download a Flash video file... not an easy thing to do depending on how the
website was encoded... (sry if I talk over your head...)

Any steps that I would use to capture the video I don't think I should post
here...lol not sure how legal it all is but anything I capture like that is
simply for personal use and never even leaves my house... For your purposes
you would be best off if you can get a video file from the person/website
that has posted it...

You can use shockwave/flash in powerpoint but its not easy without tools
like Shayam's Toolbar (spelling???). Wish I had a link for you... PFC can
also be a good tool to insert videos into your presentation, once you have
them...

Thanks for the tip. The person still hasn't emailed me back yet so I suppose
I'll forget using the clip. Although it would be great to use the clip in the
powerpoint, it's not really needed. Again, thank you for helping anyway.

The product might (and I stress MIGHT) be OK, but their advertising
technique is trash.
