moving ruller or line to see if even

hi

Is there a way to move a line or the ruler down, so you can check if
something is at the same height or width. Instead of putting the grid lines
on?
Similar to Publisher, where you can move an invisible line down from the
ruler?

Thanks Bruce

This subject came up at the MVP Summit--that it would be really helpful if
there were some way to pull "guidelines" in Word--but alas, no, there is no
such feature in word. What I do is this:

For horizontal alignment, I drag a tab stop on the ruler. When you do that,
it creates a broken line going down the page that can help you see
alignment.

For vertical alignment, I just scroll the window till the side-by-side
objects are near that top or bottom. Or you could create an actual drawing
line (temporarily) and move it around.
