Moving tasks (drag-n-drop) speed too fast

Kat-CSC

When I select a task with it's sub-tasks and try to move them lower in the
schedule, the speed is so fast that it goes well beyond the end of the task
list. Is there a way to slow down this speed or a better way to drop? I
don't like the cut/copy and paste because I'm concerned I'll lose key info
like the Unique ID. Any help is appreciated in advance.

Hi Kat-CSC,

As far as I know, there is no way to slow down the scroll rate when
attempting to drag tasks to a new location in a Project file. Even
changing the scroll speed in the control panel does appear to resolve
it. About the only answer I can come up with (and it's not terrific) is
to drag and drop in stages until you finally get the task at its desired
location.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Kat-CSC,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

It could help to close down the intervening tasks by clicking the minus sign
on the summaries. If you do this also with the summary you're moving, it
will move all its tasks as well. Check Tools/Options.../Schedule tab that
the setting of Autolink inserted or moved tasks is as you want it, otherwise
your logic links will go all awry.

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
