moving upgrades to a new computer

Richard

Hi: If I buy a new computer, how do I move Office2000
onto it with only the upgrade?

Hi Richard -

In order to install an upgrade version of Office, you must have something to
upgrade from - otherwise, the software won't let you install it. Below is
an article that lists the qualifying products for Office. If you don't have
any of those, you will need to purchase the full packaged product.

Thanks for the very fast response, but I wasn't clear: I
successfully upgraded to Office2000 on my current computer
having had all the required original programs (Excel,
Word, etc.).. Now, I'd like to buy a new computer but have
only the Upgrade Software. I assume the new computer
doesn't have any Office software pre-installed, and so the
upgrade won't find the programs. Does this mean I must re-
buy Office for the new computer?

Krystin gave you the answer - if you do not have a qualifying product, then
you will need to buy the full version. Not too difficult to understand is
it?

If you successfully used the upgrade on the old computer, you will need the
disk for the qualifying program that you used for the upgrade, such as
Works, Office 95 or Office 97, or the specific program that you used to
qualify for the upgrade. You do not need to install it, just "show" the
office upgrade installation the CD when it asks for the qualifying product.

If you no longer have the CD for the qualifying product, your license to use
the upgrade is invalid as it requires that all upgrade eligible products
become "one" with the upgrade CD. If you no longer have the upgrade
eligible product, your upgrade CD license is invalid.
