MS Installer tries to install Outlook when Office apps load

I am using Office 2000 on a WinXP SP2 system. For the past two days,
whenever I open Excel, Outlook or Powerpoint, the MS Installer opens and
tries to install Outlook 2003. I can cancel out of the installer and the
application or file I want opens fine. I want to stop the installer from
trying to install Outlook 2003.

I have Outlook 2003 on my system although it was not installed with Office
2000. I installed it subquently.

The problem described above started yesterday. Office has been on the
system for 2 years. I made not changes to the system with the past week.
The problem occurs only with Excel, Powerpoint & Outlook but not with Word.

I followed the suggestions contained in the Msft KB article #265194,
"Off2000: Windows Installer Appears Every Time a Program Is started." The
suggestions did not solve the problem.
