MS Office 2003 sign up screen

New PC has Office 2003 trial but was not activated. Instead installed Office
97. Now when another application tries to launch Word or Excel, I get the
Office 2003 sign in screen.

You should have uninstalled the Office 2003 trial before installing Office 97,
and then reinstalled 2003. You should probably uninstall both and reinstall,
starting with Office 97. The rule is oldest first. If you aren't going to use
the trial, you might choose not to install it at all. I think that would be my
choice.
