MS Office docs accidently set archive read only

Yesterday, I inserted my thumb drive in the USB port while the PC was booting
up. After I pull up a Word document to modify, it is set to read & print
only. I attempted to change the properties, but it does not work. I tested
several other Word documents and received the same results.

I proceeded to test Excel & Powerpoint and was only able to read & print them.

Today, I used the same thumb drive on another PC and the documents are
RW-able. Therefore, there must have been a setting during the boot-up last
night.

Does anyone have any recommendations on regaining files to be RW-able.

Thank you.

Copy them to your HDD. Then select them all, right-click, choose Properties
and remove the Read Only attribute.

Please be careful with flash drives as they are notorious for corrupting
document especially if you try to save directly to them instead of saving to
the local HDD and then copying them across to the local HDD first before
opening.
