MS Project - Allocating Resources (Human)

Can a resource in a project have more than 1 role ? I understand that as per
Project Management best pratices, it should not be the case.

In about 30 years of PM, I don't recall ever hearing a prohibition on a
resource fulfilling multiple roles. Come to think of it, I can't
remember a project where at least one person didn't do so.
Further, if someone did say it was a bad practice, they need to put
away the hooka and get real!
