MS Project Custom Views

I wanted to create a new "custom" view using that was based on the Gantt
Chart view.

So I copied that view and renamed it. (More Views, Copy)

Now I have my new (renamed) view. However, every time I make a change to it
(i.e. add a column) - that change ALSO appears back on the original Gannt
Chart View - What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, or if you are not using Project
Server, please post your Microsoft Project questions to the
microsoft.public.project newsgroup, as this newsgroup is closing down. To
answer your question, Microsoft Project's definition of a view is as
follows:

View = Table + Filter + Group + Screen

The Table defines the columns you wish to see. The Filter extracts the rows
you wish to see. The Group groups the data on the screen. The Screen
determines the layout of the data, such as whether the View includes a Gantt
Chart on the right, a timephased grid on the right, or nothing on the right.

By default, the Gantt Chart view consists of the Entry table, the All Tasks
filter, the No Group group, and the Gantt Chart screen. When you make a
copy of the Gantt Chart view, the new custom View includes the original
Entry table that is also included in the default Gantt Chart view. If you
edit the columns in the Entry table in either View, the changes show up in
the other View.

Therefore, to solve your problem you should make a copy of the Entry table,
give the custom Table an original name, and then edit your custom Gantt
Chart view to use the new custom Table instead of the Entry table. Hope
this helps.
