MS Project Pro will not connect to Project Server

Andy Jones

I have just setup MS Project Server 2002 and can access
the PWA fine.

However, when I try to connect to the server through
Project Pro 2002 I receive an error stating.

The MS Project Server database is unavailable.

It says that there is a problem with the global template
or I do not have permission to access the template. I
have setup my id with admin privelges through PWA

I don't have a global template yet. Do I have to have one
first to access the server?

Also am I suppose to create and ODBC connection to the
project server? I noticed the ODBC option when I went to
save a project?

One other thing is their any place I can find some
documents on how this should all be setup? I can't seem
to find anything?

Thanks to anyone who replies!!

I think this might be a permissions issue. Try making your user a superuser
by giving them Admin, Project Manager, etc. privileges. The Project
Managers group actually gives you the permission to log into Project Pro.
Hope this helps.

Andy:

Almost every text string, that Project and Project Server displays, is
stored in the database for localization. On the project side, these can be
found in MSP_CONVERSIONS, on the web side these are stored in
MSP_WEB_CONVERSIONS. Be careful altering these strings, particularly the
email strings, because they may contain substitution characters that get
incorporated into the lines of executable code. With some experimenting, you
ought to be able to accomplish what you want by altering the string values
contained in MSP_WEB_CONVERSIONS.
