How do i assign the weighatge of sub-activities to roll-up in a summary task
so that I can monitor the progress planned vs actual weightage

Yes, Trevor, it indeed is an Indian Terminology. MS-Project may have nothing
related to do, however as a planner, the higher ups want you to break up your
activities giving appropriate weightage. For example, In an Overhauling of
Chemical Plant, the main summary activity i.e. Overhauling of Plant shall be
Main (summary task) having 100% weightage. This may be divided in say four
major activites having 40,30,20 & 10% each. Now it is called Level-2
Planning. Moving further, if you break up the tasks in the 40%, the total of
it's sub-activities shall total to 100%. This is called Level-3 Planning.
Similarly you can go for Level-4 & 5 (generally).

Now, I was trying to find out whether I can get such inf. from MS-Project or
alternatively it may be available with a different terminology.

You can use the Custom fields in Project and put in formulas for the
numbers you seek. It's too complicated to explain here, but it
certainly can be done. If you search the Help on those topics, with a
little work, you can set it up.

Hope this helps in your world.
