MS Project2003 Linking

Hi,

When you copy a task end date from Project Server, and then paste it as
a link to an Excel spreadsheet, it works sometimes, but other times it
gives a #Name# error in the spreadsheet. Worse, it seems that it works
sometimes, encouraging people to utilize the power, but then when the
spreadsheet is re-opened later the link gives the same error. Are you
familiar with linking in this manner? anyone have idea..

Thanks,
Rahul

mukulbhind,
Paste links are NOT a preferred method since they are fragile and easy
to corrupt if not handled with due diligence. I can't say exactly what
is happening in your case but a good possibility is that the source
(Project) or destination (Excel) files are being moved around (i.e. to
different folders or drives).

I wouldn't say there is "encouragement" to use any particular feature
and especially not paste links. As with any application or tool, there
are precautions the user must recognize.
