Just to give some feedback on a .jpg print problem I had back in
Nov/Dec. It appears the problem is a "bug" in Microsoft Publisher
2003. Here's my initial problem followed by the bug response from MS
tech support. During this whole process, I ended up replacing the
5650 with a HP 2175 thinking it was a 5650 problem. Unfortunately, the
software problem still exists on the 2175 - this after a $200 new
printer investment and dozens of hours work over 3 months.
Just for your information.

The initial problem report.
I installed Publisher 2003 around November 1. I cannot print select
..jpg files and have been unable to resolve the problem. Some .jpg
files are squeezed and print twice in the selected graphic box.
Microsoft's last suggestion was to convert my files to .gif (which
printed OK) and/or reduce the resolution of the .jpg files. These are
not solutions, but "work-arounds." Help. I've spent at least 6 hours
on the phone and three times this in consultations and trouoble
shooting. The .jpg photo sometimes print twice in the allocated space
for one photo.

We have taken another look at your issue and find that the issue is a
result of specific image format, GDI +, and the particular printer.
In looking at the graphic files you have sent, I noticed that they are
very high resolution. My suggestion is to reduce the resolution of the
files. At this moment this is the only workaround I can suggest. A bug
report has been recorded as it applies to this issue. If any
developments result from the bug report, I will inform you.
No I do not think that HP can be of help. The problem is a bug in
Publisher 2003 probably due to GDI+ (Publisher 2000 does not have
GDI+)and the file format. I have submitted a bug report. If any
resolution or information comes out of the bug report, I will forward.
