Multiple duplicate personal folders in Outlook 2000 cannot close

I have 4 personal folders showing in Outlook. 1 good one, 2 duplicates of the
good one which I cannot close and 1 other which I cannot expand or close
without the error message Unable to expand the folder. The set of folders
could not be opened. Item could not be found.
I reckon it's profile related. How can I rectify this?

Create a new profile if you're using Outlook 2000 Corp/Workgroup. If you're
using Internet Mail Only, you'll need to hack the registry.
You most likely corrupted this profile by migrating data incorrectly.
Outlook is extremely inflexible when it comes to designating its default
information store.
