I am also getting this error.
However, other users in my organization are not getting the error - even when opening the same projects and repeating the same steps that I perform.
Google research shows that it was a glitch with Project 2003 that was allegedly corrected with SP1 for that version.
Either an old bug has resurfaced in 2007 or there is something odd about specific desktop clients (including you and me).
Does anyone know a permanent fix?
I've recently installed a PPRO2007 hotfix (kb973930) for other reasons, but still get the error.

Multiple Lines of Text - Warning/Error

I noticed recently that one of my 2007 MPPs kept getting a warning/error
indicating that "There are multiple lines of text in the existing note.
Multiple lines of text can only be entered using the Notes tab of the Task
Information dialog box....
At first I was befuddled since the Notes tab on a task permits multiple
lines of text. Then I checked every task with a Note to see if there was
something odd present. No luck
Then I realized that the Comments field (File/Properties) contained multiple
lines of text (often I put stuff in there that is general in nature). After
removing that text, I no longer received the warning
Did I "solve" this issue, or is this a flaw in Project 2007, as I never
received this error with prior versions of Project.

Hello dinked,No, that's an old error.
Hello dinked
No, that's an old error. Comments in the File properties box appear
as a note in the Project Summary task line. If you add the Notes
field to a view and attempt to edit the text directly in the table,
you'll get that message
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along

Hi dinked
If you add the notes field, you aren't seeing the text entered into
the comments field on the Project summary task line (line zero?)
I just created the exact message you note by
Showing the project summary task
Going to File > Properties and entering a large amount of text into
the comments section
Adding the notes field to the table and attempting to edit the note
on the project summary task line

JulieS,Thank you for explaining the cause of the warning message.

Thank you for explaining the cause of the warning message. Is there a wa
to suppress the message?

Hello DraNoel,Sorry no, not to the best of my knowledge.
Hello DraNoel,
Sorry no, not to the best of my knowledge. Through VBA you can (I
think) turn off alerts and error messages, but I would not recommend
doing that as a blanket practice. I do not believe there is a way to
suppress only one message.
If you are interested in pursuing this idea through code (VBA) you
could post the question in the Project developer newsgroup.
