mvi.avi files from digital camera to ppt

I am unable to transfer a movie (mvi.avi file) from my digital camera to a powerpoint presentation. I have tried various ways to no avail.

I am using windows xp pro and ppt 2000

Try just renaming it, giving it an extension of .MPG. See the tip at
http://www.powerpointbackgrounds.com/powerpointtips.htm , look toward the bottom
for the first bullet under "Workaround bugs & limitations".
