What's the problem? In what version of Outlook?

My contacts folder does not open. A message saying: "Unable to display the
folder. The folder is full."

I am unable to open it to even attempt to reduce the folder size by deleting
some contacts.

Does not open *when*? When you click on it in the folder list? WHen you display the address book? Is your contacts folder in an Exchange mailbox or a .pst file?

Yes, when I hit the "contacts" button in the folder list. The address book
button works so it is just the "contacts" list.
It is a .pst file I'm using.
Thank you

I'm still not clear on just what you're doing. The folder list is a hierarchical view of all your folders. It contains no buttons.
