My desktop icon dissapeared from my tool bar.

Anybody know how to restore it to the tool bar?

I may be misreading this, but try this if your post has nothing to do
with Office:
(The path may depend on what operating system you are using)

or try this:

You have deleted the Show Desktop shortcut from the Quick Launch Bar.

You should have a copy in the System folder, normally
C:\Windows\System
Just copy "Show Desktop.scf" to C:\WINDOWS\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
