My document comes up Word-only

I create a Word document and the next time I go into it
and try to save it, it says it is a read-only document, so
I have to change the name. It doesn't say it is a
protected document and my file properties for office don't
say "read-only." Any clue as to what the problem might be?

There are Word viruses with this symptom.
