My Office 2000 CD 1 is damaged. Can anyone share DATA1.msi file

I need this file in order to be able to upgrade the Office 2000 on my
computer. The CD is no longer available from Microsoft. Can anyone share this
file with me?

You can "upgrade" by purchasing a full (not upgrade) version of
Office XP or Office 2003 and installing it from the CD.

It is available on Ebay or similar
By damaged I take it you are unable to copy in dos to hd?

I made a mistake in my original posting: I meant to say to update, rather
than to upgrade my Office 2000.

It's possible the CD may not be damaged but rather the Data1.MSI the
Office installation is looking for is damaged or missing. This is a
fairly common issue and Microsoft developed a utility to help rectify
the problem.

If you think this may be the case then obtain the following utility
and use it to remove only the reference to Office 2000. Once that is
complete then you'll need to reinstall Office 2000 to point the
Windows Installer to your installation CD:

Thanks for the input, but the CD is DEFINITELY damaged! To be exact it's
broken!

Then unfortunately you will need to find a replacement or upgrade to
another version.

A copy of someone's Data1.msi file, even if it is identical to the
file your Office installation is searching for, will not resolve this
issue you are encountering. If you are able to get the Windows
Installer to recognize the file, the Data1.msi file will point the
Windows Installer to the install source of Office which happens to be
your broken CD. :-( (IOW, if you get past the 'missing Data1.msi'
message you'll be prompted for your Office installation CD)
